(1) History of ARAHE (on sale)
This history of the Asian Regional Association for Home Economics (ARAHE), its first twenty years of existence, is an attempt to put together its activities as it has evolved to this day. All information presented here was collated from the minutes of ARAHE Council Meetings as well as proceedings of its biennial conferences/congresses. Materials reviewed for this historical account came from the files organized by Dr. Chiyono Matsushima and Dr. Soojae Moon. Written reports of ARAHE conferences in the Journal of Japan Society of Home Economics as well as those written by Dr. Aurora G. Corpuz were also included.
In recognition of the valuable impact of home economics on the individual, family and
community, the record presents the wisdom and experiences that the founding elders have endeavored to strengthen the discipline of home economics.
Indeed, there is a need to record those rich, time-tested experiences for the many generations to come so that they may know the dreams and aspirations of their forbears, and hopefully, they may in turn find meaning and inspirations in them for their own lives.
This is a very informative material for home economists as it provides accounts of the activities and meetings notwithstanding the cost of the getting together of home economists coming from all comers of the globe. The founding of ARAHE itself may be considered providential. It serves as the link of local home economists to home economists of the world. This organization deserves the credit of having generated so much knowledge and ideas through academic exchange of research presentations, workshops, publications, conferences, and organizational communication system. No doubt, the practice of democratic processes resulting in understanding, love and fellowship is evident.
Everyone can buy this informative book at the 14th ARAHE Biennial International Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
