Introduction

     The Asian Regional Association for Home Economics (ARAHE) was founded in 1983 as a nonprofit organization to serve the members who are working in the various areas of Home Economics in Asia. ARAHE is composed of the Assembly, the Council and the Executive Committee. The policy-making body of ARAHE is the Council, whose members are Executive Committee Members and representatives of each from Organization Members. The implementing body of ARAHE is the Executive Committee elected by the Council. All Individual Members and all Organization Members are members of the General Assembly.
     ARAHE shall promote the development Home Economics in Asian nations through research and education related to individual, family and communal living. And ARAHE shall strive for mutual contacts, professional exchanges and amity among members.

  Aims

The Aims and purpose for Establishment of ARAHE were;
- To develop and strengthen all forms of education in the field of Home Economics.
- To establish and improve the standards of research and service in Home Economics.
- To initiate, promote and support legislation and government programs relating to Home Economics profession.
- To carry out the objectives of ARAHE in affiliation with other organization having similar aims and objectives.
- To enlighten the public of the role of Home Economics for regional development.
- To strive for mutual contacts, professional exchanges and amity among members.

1) Initiate projects, research, seminars, workshops and conferences and congresses.

  Constitution

Name and Headquarters
S.1 The Association shall be called the Asian Regional Association for
      Home Economics here after referred to as ARAHE.
S.2 The headquarters of ARAHE shall be where the President has
      her/his residence.
S.3 ARAHE shall be an affiliated Member of IFHE.

Aims
S.5 ARAHE shall promote the development of Home Economics in Asian

S.6 ARAHE shall be concerned with the following activities to fulfill the       above aims:
   6.1 Initiate projects, research, seminars, workshops, conferences and
         congresses.
   6.2 Publication of Journal of ARAHE and any other publications if
         necessary.
   6.3 Transmission of News-letter.
   6.4 Keep members informed by means of publications and other
         necessary activities.
   6.5 Hold the General Assembly, the Council Meeting and the Executive
         Committee Meeting every two years in an Asian country.

Language
S.7 The official language of ARAHE shall be English.

Membership
S.8 ARAHE shall consist of Organization Members, Individual Members,       Student Members, Associated Members, and Library Members.
      Individual Members shall consist of Life Members and Yearly
      Members.
      All types of members shall receive the Journal of ARAHE: All types of
      members, except Library Members, shall have the right to submit the
      articles to the Journal of ARAHE, to give the presentations at the
      ARAHE sponsored congress, conference and/or workshop.
   8.1 Organization Members shall be comprised of persons with
         professional training in Home Economics that results in a degree or
         diploma; organizations including foundation with programs in Home
         Economics; organizations with employed professionals Home
         Economists and those who have an interest in Home Economics.
   8.2 Individual Members shall be individuals who are professionals
         concerned with the development of Home Economics.
   8.3 Student Members shall be individuals registered in programs
         leading to a degree or diploma in Home Economics and/or related
         areas.
   8.4 Associated Members shall be both individuals and organizations
         who are professionals concerned with the development of Home
         Economics outside of Asia and have no voting right.
   8.5 Library Members shall be libraries in the world who subscribe the          Journal of ARAHE.

Governing Body
S.9 ARAHE shall be composed of the General Assembly, the Council and
      the Executive Committee.
   9.1 The policy-making body of ARAHE shall be the Council.
         The Council Meeting shall constitute a quorum with the
         Organization Members from at least two countries present.
         Every Organization Member shall have one vote.
   9.2 The implementing body of ARAHE shall be the Executive
         Committee.
         The Executive Committee Meeting shall have a quorum of three
         Executive Committee Members present.

Composition of the Governing Body
S.10
   10.1 The Council shall be composed of Executive Committee Members
           and representatives of each from Organization Member. Only one
           Individual Member may represent the country where there is no
           Organization Member for that country.
   10.2 The Executive Committee shall be composed of officers and
           Advisory Committee Members.
   10.3 The General Assembly shall be composed of all Individual and all
           Organization Members.

Officers
S.11 The Officers of ARAHE shall be: President, 2 Vice- Presidents,         Secretary General, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Public         Relation Officer, two Auditors,and three Executive Committee         Members from each zone. Zones shall be East Asia Zone (China,         Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan), South East Asia Zone         (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand),         and Indian Zone (Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan and         Sri Lanka).
   11.1 The Executive Committee Officers consists of twelve
           members and IFHE Executive Members from ARAHE and the
           Advisory Committee Members.
   11.2 All former ARAHE Presidents and IFHE Presidents and Vice
           Presidents shall be members of Advisory Committee.

Duties
S.12 The officers of ARAHE shall have the following duties, functions
        and responsibilities:
   12.1 The President shall be the executive officer of ARAHE and such
           shall have active executive management of the operations of
           the General Assembly, the Council and the Executive Committee.
           She/he shall act as the official spokes person of ARAHE.
   12.2 The Vice-Presidents for Administration shall assist the president in
           the operation of the general affairs of ARAHE
   12.3 The Vice-president for Publications shall assist the President in all
           matters that shall have to do with Publications.
   12.4 The Secretary General shall be responsible for the general
           records of ARAHE and the minutes of the Executive Committee
           Meetings, the Council Meetings, and the General Assembly; shall
           conduct such correspondence as the Executive Committee may
           direct; shall receive, record and report on Membership
           Applications.
   12.5 The Assistant-Secretary shall be responsible for taking the
           minutes of the Executive Committee Meetings, the Council
           Meetings, and the General Assembly; shall aid the Secretary-
           General in the latter's duties and act in her absence or incapacity.
   12.6 The Treasurer shall be responsible for the financial records of
           ARAHE and all fiscal matters as directed by the Executive
           Committee; shall keep all funds and other properties of ARAHE;
           shall collect all dues and donations; shall disburse money as
           authorized by the Executive Committee; shall submit financial
           statements as may be required; shall submit an annual income
           and expenditures report at all meetings of ARAHE and shall
           discharge all other functions inherent to the position.
   12.7 The Auditors shall audit the funds and financial records of ARAHE
           from time to time and shall report their findings to the Executive
           Committee and the Council.
   12.8 The Public Relations Officer in collaboration with ARAHE
           Secretariat shall be in charge of information dissemination through
           the web-site and other media.
   12.9 All the Advisory Committee Members shall be Members of
           Executive Committee and the Council.

Duration of Office
S.13 The duration of office shall be two years, officers will be eligible for         a second consecutive term of office for the same post.

Finance
S.14 ARAHE shall be financed by member fees, donations, subsidies and         others.
   14.1 Donations can be accepted from organizations, agencies and            individuals.
   14.2 Annual Membership fees would be By-Laws.
   14.3 The fiscal year shall begin on the first of January and end on the            thirty-first of December.

By- Laws
S.15 Members Fee shall be as follows and shall take effect from the first
        of January 2008.

S.16 The Constitution of ARAHE shall be amended by a 2/3 Majority
        Vote of the Council Members.
S.17 The by-laws of ARAHE shall be approved by a simple majority vote
        of the Council Members present.
S.18 The Constitution shall take effect from the seventh of September,
        1983.

        The 1985 Amendments (Seoul, the eighteenth of July, 1985) shall         take effect from the first of January, 1986.

        The 1989 Amendments (Singapore, the twenty-seventh of July,         1989) shall take effect from the twenty-seventh of August, 1989.

        The 1993 Amendments (Kuala Lumpur, the twenty-first of July,         1993) shall take effect from the twenty-first of July, 1993.

        The 1997 Amendments (Seoul, the eighteenth of July, 1997) shall         take effect from the eighteenth of July, 1997.

        The 1999 Amendments (Yokohama, the eighteenth of August, 1999)         shall take effect from the eighteenth of August, 1999.

        The 2001 Amendment (Taipei, the twentieth of July, 2001) shall         take effect from the twentieth of July, 2001.

        The 2003 Amendments (Chiang Mai, the seventh of August, 2003)         shall take effect from the seventh of August, 2003.

        The 2007 Amendments (Petaling Jaya, the sixth of August, 2007)         shall take effect from the sixth of August, 2007, exception of the         Membership Fee.
